Becky
Simpson is a writer, producer, actress and musician living and working
out of the Calderdale area. She was brought up in a creative
environment with her parents both "in the business." Her father
Dave Simpson is a professional writer and her mother
Diane
Whitley a writer, producer and director.
Recently Becky wrote and produced
a short Film -
'Thinking Straight' in Manchester with Director Ric Forster (Hollyoaks)
and Assistant Producer Wes Paul Gerrard. Diane Whitley was the
Executive Producer. The film has been accepted at several
festivals including London Independent Festival, Melbourne Queer
Fesitval, Cannes Short Film Corner, Mix Milano and London
Lesbian & Gay Film Festival.
Becky's
first acting role was at the age of 8 when she appeared as Lottie in a radio adaptation of The Little Princess. She then
went on to have a score of acting roles including the award
winning Spoonface Steinberg written by Lee Hall.
In 2004 she put her acting career
on hold to study for her degree in Creative Writing at Leeds
University. She currently lives in Calderdale
where she plays regular gigs throughout the area in a rock n
roll group The Wes Paul Band. In
2010 The Wes Paul Band recorded an album at Sun Studio in Memphis -
Tennessee called 'Manchester to Manchester' before touring in
Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. In September 2011 they are
returning Stateside for their 32 Day Route 66 Tour. |
